Special Wakeboarding Clinics

Have you ever told yourself that you were going to try that new trick but you had no idea where to start or were simply too scared? Are you tired of watching the instructional videos that just quickly glance over each trick? If so, these special learning clinics could be just what you need to give you the confidence to move on.

We here at Mile High Wakeboarding™ wanted to provide something for the average local rider to help them learn very specific tricks without all of the normal abuse, falls, and school of hard knocks (literally sometimes) that we had to go through. We've set up special evenings during select weeks, to focus on very specific tricks.

Texas Wakeboard Camps and Clinics

Mile High Wakeboarding™ is conducting 2 wakeboard camps on Lake LBJ this spring and 2 more in the fall. (Lake LBJ is in Kingsland Texas, near Austin). We are calling these the warm-water wakeboard camps because when we were there last, in late October of 2007, the water was still 78+ degrees. As we type this description in March, the water temp is already in the 70's.

MHW has rented a private, waterfront residence with direct access to a secluded part of the lake. We will have our 2008 X Star and a Malibu VLX (one of our former camp boats sold to the owner of the house) onsite to conduct these wakeboard camps. Both are sweet rides. We will also set up a trampoline for land training exercises. Space will be limited at each session so everyone can ride more.

Because these camps are in the early and late season, we planned each session to be 3 days in length, over weekends. Space permitting, you have the option to extend your session as needed.

Shaun Murray Wakeboard Clinic

Have you ever wanted to spend a day on the boat with your hero but couldn't get the time off of work, or simply couldn't afford to fly out to their camp? Well that's one reason that Mile High Wakeboarding™ is bringing some of the most respected, professional, and talented riders in the world to our own back yard. Among these riders is the legend himself, Shaun Murray. Shaun is a superstar in every sense of the word and we are excited and lucky to have him visit! For those of you that have not had the opportunity to ride with Shaun, you will quickly understand why he was at the top of a very short list of riders that we wanted to come visit. He is a true professional and an absolute blast to be around.

Space for this event is very limited over the 3 days. All spots are on a first-come, first-served basis.

2008 Western Canadian Championships

The Westerns this year will be held in Winnipeg, MB at the WSWM Training and Tournament Facility (Lake Shirley). The event will run from August 1-3, 2008. Familiarization will take place on July 31st. Adaptive Skiing is included this year.

2008 Wakeboard Nationals

With the upcoming Provincials on August 10th at the Pony Corral (further details to follow) and the National Wakeboarding Championships on August 14 – 17, we require the number of participants who are committed for the National Wakeboarding Championships August 14 – 17 in Regina Saskatchewan.

The Nationals will now include a slider event and we need to make a decision regarding this section of the National competition. The slider event is limited to 4 male riders and they are looking for accomplished sliders and we would like to make a decision regarding the entrants into the slider event. Can you please advise by July 15 if you will be attending the Nationals on August 14-17 in Regina and if you are interested in the slider event.

2008 AMA National

Round Eleven of the AMA US Motocross Championship comes from the Sands of Southwick. The series only pure sand race, Southwick soft track surface brings out the best sand riders in the world. Always something exciting happening at Southwick, in recent years the track has favored local riders such as John Dowd (Ludlow, Mass.) and Doug Henry (Oxford, Conn.). Southwick, known for its beautiful rolling hills and wooded setting, is also one of the most photographed tracks on the circuit as the bikes kick up a giant plume of sand called roost when they race by. An excellent subject for photos with the blasting sand showing motion in the still photograph. The sand also makes for an ever-shifting track, with ruts and bumps quickly forming after one lap around the nicely groomed track. Southwick, without a doubt, it one of the more difficult race tracks anywhere.
