Grand Valley BMX

BMX racing is open to anyone who can ride a bike – ages 2 – 92. Grand Valley BMX is an officially sanctioned American Bicycle Association (ABA) track. All new riders may register at any regularly scheduled single points race to receive a Free One-Day Trial membership from the ABA. This free trial membership plus the $10 race fee will allow you to participate in BMX racing for one day, after which you must purchase a 1-month temporary or 12-month full membership from the ABA to continue racing.

A full or temporary membership from the ABA qualifies you to ride at any ABA-sanctioned track when you pay the track’s race fee. At Grand Valley BMX, all single-points races are $10, and double-points races (offered a few times each year) are $20.

* A 12-month full membership costs $45 for the first family member; $40 for the second; and $35 for each additional member. Also included with each full membership is one free single-points race (a $10 value), a subscription to the monthly BMXer magazine, and eligibility to race and compete for awards at any of the over 200 ABA tracks in the U.S.
* A 1-month temporary membership costs $25.

You may ride any BMX-type bicycle or mountain bike at Grand Valley BMX. 20” wheels or smaller will qualify new members to race in the novice class, while riders on bikes with larger wheels will compete in the cruiser class. For safety, kickstands must be removed, and full-face helmets are strongly recommended (we have several loaners).

At Grand Valley BMX, the racing season lasts all year long, as weather permits. You can fit BMX racing in between other activities, like work, school, sports, church, and scouting.

At this time, Grand Valley BMX is open only on official race days. Use registration times on race days (at least one full hour before each race) to ride the track and practice your skills. We race on Sunday afternoons and also hold weekly races on Tuesday evenings during the summer. Spectators are always free.

2008 Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship

Sunday 13th April will see the third round of the 2008 Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship take place at a revamped Torrington circuit, as the action shifts south to Devon. It has been several years since the venue last hosted a top-flight meeting, so much work has been done in preparation to ensure that the high standards the championship demands are delivered.

Whilst much of the tried and tested circuit remains, Justin Barclay who created the new MXGP track at Donington Park, has worked his magic to bring some exciting new elements to an otherwise traditional track. With excellent viewing opportunities, the track has two distinctive halves, a drier upper section and a damp lower part. These elements will combine to create one of the toughest physical challenges for the riders in the season to date.

Road America

The Third annual Road America Inline 20k and 13k is a premier inline skating event for skaters of all levels. Road America, the venue hosting this event, is a 4 mile closed auto racing course. This provides skaters with an excelent opportunity to experience the rolling scenery of Wisconsin on the smooth asphalt of one of the countries top road courses. Come join us and support a great cause, Special Olympics North America, while having fun racing on one of the best courses you will ever skate. Also, your registration fee allows you to watch the AMA Super bike motorcycle racing that runs all day before the inline race.

Hilton Head Skate Camp - Zephyr

Hilton Head island is one of the premier vacation destinations on the East Coast. It is also a perfect place to learn to skate in a fun, relaxed environment.

Hilton Head is a five mile by 12 mile island off the coast of South Carolina famous for its beaches, southern culture, and fantastic services. For skaters, the island also has 23 miles of pristine public paved pathways.

Our Skate Camps have two goals: learn to skate and have fun doing it! Our average skater is 47 years old and we have taught youngsters as old as 71. Because no experience is required to attend this Camp, we have some participants who have never before put on skates and others who have tried them but aren't yet comfortable.

At the Hilton Head Skate Camp we have two two-hour instructional sessions each day taught by our professional instructors, who are some of the best in the world at what they do. Many of the sessions are in an enclosed outdoor skating rink - perfect for learning to inline skate in a private setting. We also make use of the fantastic trail system to test our newly-found skills in the real world. In addition to instruction we bike, kayak, and relax on the beach - all part of Camp and not requiring any experience at all.

While many people are nervous about signing up for five days of learning to skate, trust us when we tell you that you will wish it was longer once you are there! If you are ready to learn to skate or improve your inline skating skills, join us on Hilton Head Island for a great active vacation! It is never too late to go to Camp.

Florida Skate Camp - Zephyr

Florida has some of the best long-distance skating trails in the United States and certainly the best in any southern state. In fact, Florida's trails are so good for a winter getaway that we have both a Skate Camp for beginners and a Skate Tour scheduled there.

Skate Camp
Our Skate Camp is designed both beginners and advanced beginners. Since it is late in the year, it is a great camp both for those who have never skated before and those who have graduated from our Hilton Head Skate Camp or Camp Rollerblade day camps. We spend five days in the town of Dunedin, located on the Gulf Coast and one of the nicest towns in Florida. We learn to skate in our privately-rented outdoor hockey rink and practice our skills on nearby flat trails. This trip meets and ends in Tampa and is designed to be the precursor to our Florida Skating Adventure. If you sign up for the Camp, you will get 10% off the Skating Adventure!

Skating Adventure
Our Florida Skating Adventure is a standard skate tour, designed for all ability levels with multiple route options and van support each day. We start and end at Tampa Airport and skate on four fantastic trails in the Gulf Coast region. The new Sun Coast Trail, which runs near but is separated from a new toll highway, is an excellent example of how transportation funding in America is changing to include alternatives to the car. The 46-mile Withlacoochee Trail cuts through forest and along a river in the middle of the state, while the Withlacoochee Bay trail runs perfectly flat along a canal. Finally, the Pinellas Trail runs through gulf-coast communities in the western part of Florida. Because the trails are flat (perfect for beginners) and long (perfect for advanced skaters), this is a great tour for friends or couples of differing ability levels.

Florida is an outstanding location for a winter getaway. The skating is excellent, the hotels relaxing, and the temperature is in the seventies most days - odds are it will be a sunny day perfect for skating!

NYC Skate Marathon and New York 100K

Sure, many of the best distance skaters in the world will be there for one of the most serious races in North America, but the NYC Skate Marathon is open to all! Beginners to experts, 8 to 80, this event is for everyone. Join the fun, take the challenge, meet skaters from all around the world, try something new or do it again — this event rocks! Beautiful Prospect Park in Brooklyn provides a wonderful traffic free route.

And, in honor of Triumph, the Featured Marque for 2008 VMD, modern Bonnevilles and Thruxtons that have been customized in the cafe racer style are also welcome.

The Classic Club for 2008 is the North American Laverda Owners Club, which will have a special display and activities.

With so much to do and see, and so many people attending the event, it is important to keep everything running smoothly and for everyone to follow some basic guidelines. A few details have changed for this year, so please take a moment to read the following:

All competitors need to enter through the appropriate gates. Signage will be posted directing you to the gate where you should enter and register.

> AHRMA roadrace competitors must enter through Gate 3 to pick up their credentials. If you enter by any other gate, you will pay the applicable gate fee, and there is no way to have that fee refunded.

> AHRMA off-road competitors must enter through the Ross Rd. to pick up their credentials. If you enter by any other gate, you will pay the applicable gate fee, and there is no way to have that fee refunded.

> AHRMA racers are allowed one pass per racer and one for a crewmember, with one additional available at the gate for a cost of $10. A maximum of three passes per racer is allowed.

> Both entrances will be open throughout the event, with Mid-Ohio Guest Services personnel staffing them.

> There will be no vehicle traffic through the campground between the MX paddock and the rest of the Mid-Ohio facility at any time during the event. Foot traffic is permitted. Anyone who needs to drive a vehicle to the other part of the facility can do so by exiting the facility and driving to the other gate after registering at their respective entry gate.

> Keep in mind that all motorcycles must have a license plate and all motorcycle (and golf cart) operators must have a valid drivers license.

> Parking space will be at a premium in all paddock and pit areas and it is suggested that everyone bring only the equipment and vehicles needed at the event. Mid-Ohio personnel will be on hand and able to direct you around the facility.

> Portable shower trailers will be accessible from all areas.
