Entering its fourth year, the AST Dew Tour is the most watched and attended action sports property in the world. Attendance for the 2007 AST Dew Tour totaled nearly 300,000 and an average of 41 million viewers tuned in via NBC and USA each year. The top athletes in the world will take part in this year’s Tour, all competing for the highly coveted Dew Cup that will be awarded in Orlando at season’s end to champions in each of the six disciplines. The 2007 Dew Cup winners include Nate Adams (Freestyle Motocross), Jamie Bestwick (BMX Vert), Ryan Nyquist (BMX Dirt), Daniel Dhers (BMX Park), Shaun White (Skateboard Vert) and Ryan Sheckler (Skateboard Park).

The Action Sports Tour (AST) is the recently created umbrella brand and organization of the world’s most prestigious action sports events. Currently the AST consists of two national tours, one international event and an amateur series: AST Dew Tour (debuted in 2005), AST Winter Dew Tour (debuting in 2008), AST China (debuting in 2008), and Free Flow Tour (debuted in 2005). The AST properties are home to over 300,000 spectators each year and broadcast in 100 countries and 280 million homes worldwide. The AST Dew Tour consists of five major, multi-sport events spanning across the country, with a cumulative points system, a $2.5 million competitive purse – the largest in action sports – and an additional $1 million bonus pool. Each event features skateboarding (park and vert), BMX (park, vert, and dirt) and freestyle motocross. At seasons end, the overall point’s leaders in the six disciplines are crowned year-end champions and awarded the prestigious Dew Cup. Key lifestyle elements at each Tour event include the Festival village, specialty competitions, and live cutting edge music.

World’s top 45 ranked surfers in Jeffreys Bay for Billabong Pro

All of the world’s top 45 ranked professional surfers will be in Jeffreys Bay from 9-20 July 2008 for the R2.1 million Billabong Pro, the only stop on the African continent for the Foster’s ASP World Tour, the 10-event series of events that determines surfing’s annual men’s world champion.

The 23rd edition of the country’s most prestigious and lucrative surfing event will showcase the spectacular surfing of multiple world champions Kelly Slater (USA) and Andy Irons (Haw), defending champion and runner-up Mick Fanning and Taj Burrow (both Australians), who share the ASP ratings lead after the first two events of 2007, and former champions Joel Parkinson (1999) and the evergreen Mark Occhilupo (1984).

Amongst the stellar cast of experienced campaigners and red-hot newcomers will be four South Africans with Ricky Basnett (Bluff) and Royden Bryson (East London) joining veteran Greg Emslie (EL) and Travis Logie (Durban) amongst the elite ASP top 45 ranked surfers on the 2007 world tour.

And who knows how the phenomenally talented Jordy Smith will fare this year? The 19 year-old Durbanite secured the best finish in the event by a South African when he reached the semi-finals in his debut appearance last year but is now vastly more experienced and is currently rated second on the ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS).

It doesn’t stop there as another six of SA’s best surfers are included in the field for the Von Zipper Wildcard Trials. They will take on six international rising stars with the top performers earning coveted wildcards into the Billabong Pro where they get to strut their stuff on the world stage against the top seeds in the first round.

The 2007 event has been extended to 12 days to enable organisers to select the best possible conditions at Supertubes, considered the planet’s premier high performance point break, for the four days of competition required to determine the champion.

While the hordes of spectators will be joined by the eyes of the surfing world on the live webcast in watching their heroes going ballistic for cash and points in the fabled waves of Supertubes, those in attendance will also be able party the night away to the sounds of the country’s best live music acts at the three-day J-Bay Music Festival on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, 12-14 July.

Add scores of the world’s A-list surf media, a dozen international TV crews including MTV, Fox and Fuel and webcasts on www.billabongpro.com that provide live video, scoring and commentary in four languages and the 2007 Billabong Pro J-Bay will be the centre of the surfing universe from 11-22 July this year.

2008 Duns Scotland

This dear young motor sport enthusiast is going to be the 29th Honest International Youth Motocross, which will be promoted by our Company: "Honest International".

For sure we do like to see many of yours who visit our past meetings to show up, and for the newcomers we hope that they can find enough information here.

In 2007 together with the SMK Kristianstad we proved ones again that those who stayed home were wrong and we were having a great and well organized event in Sweden.

We know for sure, that the organizer of 2008 Duns Motocross can do an event as good as in the past in Scotland as still among us in the board of organisers are some people who were responsible for the excellent event in 1992 in Knockhill.

CU all in Duns in Scotland.

Herman E Hoff
Promoter of the Honest International Youth MX.

Please volunteer any time you can, as help is always needed at the track. This year we have an all new board, except for our veteran treasurer, Melodi and VP, Shawn.

The track has received some new exciting obstacles this year and turn one has been push out making a little longer track. Many thanks go out to all the volunteers that have helped out with the rebuild. Without them we would not have the track up to par.

We kept the reduced entry fees this year. We are striving to get our rider numbers up so we can have better age group match ups.

We invite everyone to experience the track so come try it out for free (sorry - only for your first night). There is nothing like watching the five year old and under moto class pedal their little legs off to get to the finish line! The cruiser class is getting more popular within the last year, with some dads trying out their speed on the track!

Royston BMX Racing

Another great point about BMX is that you participate when you want, a sport that works with your schedule. So come try BMX at Young Park. Our 2008 race season will start March and will last until November. If you have any questions about BMX racing feel free to email us or you can call Steve at 731-616-8419.

Capital City BMX

Capital City BMX Association, Inc. (CCBMX) is a non-profit, volunteer run organization that promotes the sport of BMX racing for both the youth and older riders in and around the Raleigh area. CCBMX is run by a Board of Directors. The board members are elected by the general membership during the first (January) meeting of the year. Parents are invited to contact any of the board members to express their ideas and concerns. CCBMX is operated by the parents of the riders and adults who race at Lion's Park in Raleigh, NC. The organization is sanctioned by the American Bicycle Association, Chandler, Arizona. The program is also co-sponsored by the City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department.

CCBMX maintains a voice mail referred to as the HOTLINE. The phone number is easy to remember: (919) 834-4BMX (919-834-4269). It is important to call the HOTLINE for updated information on CCBMX racing and practice schedules.

All riders must hold a current license from the American Bicycle Association (ABA). The ABA license can be obtained at the track on race days for $45.00. You can print out the form from our website and bring it with you to help speed up the process. Those riders who are interested in trying out the track prior to registering may do so after completing a waiver, which must be signed by a parent or legal guardian (if under the age of 18).

2008 Maxxis ACU British Championship

2008 Maxxis ACU British Championship showed no signs of easing after the CAS Honda rider guided his blackened factory-backed machine to another comprehensive double moto victory at round four of eight. A quick course and warm temperatures greeted the racers at the Lyng circuit in Norfolk where the MX2 class was also swept by former multi-champion Stephen Sword in front of one of the biggest crowds the venue has seen.

Twenty-four year old Mackenzie deservedly gathered the headlines over weekend after yet another pole position and set of chequered flags. The fourth overall win from four also saw the 2007 title-winner register his eighth triumph from eight motos. This devastating streak of form means that he now holds a lead of sixty-five points; an advantage of more than two motos.

The battle for second place on this occasion was won by Swift Suzuki’s Brad Anderson who is still recovering from an injured shoulder and beat KTM UK’s James Noble by four points with second and third positions. Noble was handicapped by an incident in race one when the Whitby-resident hit a fallen Mark Hucklebridge and lost several places before rejoining the fray. The latter would also recover and score fourth in the final classification.
Mark Jones grabbed third spot in moto one, but a hefty crash ruled him out of the second sprint while Molson Kawasaki’s Tom Church finished behind the Welshman in the opening race only to have mechanical trouble in moto two.

ENDURANCE CHALLENGE – NORTHWESTERN REGION
