Jones Seizes Gold With Cliffhanger

Eye Popping Backflip Is Tops At Moto X Freestyle Final

LOS ANGELES – Last year’s silver medalist in the X Games Moto X Freestyle competition came back to The Home Depot Center with something to prove tonight, and he edged out a tough Final field that featured Nate Adams, Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg and Jeremy Lusk to take home the gold.

The trick that sealed the deal was a backflip cliffhanger: a 360° backwards rotation off the ramp with a full upside down vertical body extension. Jones also busted out a dead man and a backflip / heel click combo to beat out the rest of the final four.

“I never expected this,” Jones said. “Never in a million years did I think that somehow I would get a gold medal, and I did!”

Nate Adams was nursing a broken finger, but still popped tricks like a lazy boy backflip and a Superman backflip to take second place. Stenberg won the bronze.

“The crowd helps out the most – when you hear your fans screaming for you it definitely makes you want to show off a little more for them,” Stenberg said.
