Super Cheap Auto 1000 Bathurst

Mention Bathurst in Australia and people will immediately associate it with motor racing, and particularly October's V8 Supercar 1000 - Australia's premier endurance motorsport event. Now know as the Super Cheap Auto 1000 Bathurst, it is the tenth round in the 14-race series that now not only sees races in Australia and New Zealand, but also China and Bahrain.
This four-day fuel-injected festival of automobile endurance culminates on Sunday with over six hours and 161 laps of high-speed thrills and spills. Every day has an adrenalin-charged programme of on-track action including practice and qualifying laps, the V8 Challenge and a V8 Supercar Top 15 Shootout on Saturday. Add in the near misses of the Hyundai Precision Driving Team and the aerial acrobatics of motorcycle stunt shows and you will be exhausted just watching.

Visitors can also get a feel for what it's like for the competitors by trying out race simulators. Then there are the amazing air shows lighting up the sky and the action replays on one of four huge Clipsal Super Screens, as well as the official merchandise stalls, selling all the latest racing team gear.

Bathurst is the ultimate V8 endurance race, where the 150,000 fanatics perched on every corner of the testing Mount Panorama track are joined by over 2.5 million Australians watching on television as the drivers push their machines to the very limit to claim the crown as the driver that has tamed "the Mountain"!
