The Mighty Mama Skate-O-Rama™ is a gathering of women who love to ride skateboards--aka the International Society of Skateboard Moms (aka the nonprofit Skateboard Moms Inc.).The inaugural MMSOR took place on Mother's Day 2004. Nineteen women rolled with us that day, including 80-year-old Liz Bevington. Since then, the skateboard moms and "aunties" have gathered in New York, Washington D.C., Newburyport, MA, Portland, OR, Chicago, Long Beach, CA, Annandale, VA, Washington, D.C, and our home base of Laguna Niguel, CA.
The events are for fun--and for fundraising. We raise money for children's literacy via our Rolling 4 Reading™ program, where we deliver, via skateboard, new and gently-used children's books to kids in need.
